I emailed Emmy overnight with one of those annoying custom requests and the very next day was given a friendly and cordial reply with a warehouse photo of a build similar to what I was after. This allowed me to conceptualise what the trike could look outside of the stock image in the online catalogue. Professionalism, service, commitment - love it! Ik raad ze aan. We purchased our Douze Family Bike in April this year and it is truly wonderful. Our family had recently relocated to Torquay and even though I was unable to visit the bike before purchasing, I was overwhelmed with the way that Emmy answered all of my email questions so thoroughly and quickly. I would recommend the team at Dutch Cargo Bikes for anyone who is considering a cargo bike. As we have sold our second car our Douze "Sully" is ridden every day at least twice a day. We average around 30 kms a day and I have found the shift from commuter bike to cargo bike really enjoyable. It is also amazing how many more conversations you have with people simply because they want to talk about the bike.
Our Dutch Cargo Bike has transformed our life! The kids love it which makes getting out the door in the morning so much easier. Running errands is now a joy rather than a nightmare finding a park and getting kids in and out of their car seats. I was overwhelmed by all the cargo bike options but Emmy at Dutch Cargo Bikes really listened to what our family needed. We test rode the options in Brisbane at their test centre and promptly had a Bakfiets sent up. A year on I still feel like Emmy directed us towards the perfect bike for our family. I purchased the Douze cargo bike12 months ago and LOVE it. Perfect for grocery shopping, taking the dog out and about when her legs are too tired and just a wonderful wind in the hair commute. Emmy and Jurgen were very helpful with all our questions. Recently went back to them and had an electric motor installed to allow for longer day trips. Can't be happier with the service and the product.
I bought a Workcycles FR8 from Dutch Cargo Bikes in December 2014 - since the vast majority of Australian bicycle shops ignore utility cycling and focus on sport only.Firstly Emmy was very helpful on the phone with information. I decided to buy the bicycle and she gave me many prompt updates on the arrival date (Shipped from Amsterdam). I received the bicycle in an enormous box (very exciting!) and I was riding it the next day. There was a minor issue with the seatpost clamp. Emmy went straight to the manufacturer who shipped out an upgraded part to fix the problem. The bicycle I bought is bulletproof its going to last 50 years or more! There arent many Workcycles in Brisbane yet (hopefully more will follow!) and I have offered for Emmy to send local customers my way for test rides on my bicycle if they want to try it!
